New at Van Ranst: our deep relief engravings. With this special engraving technique, we can engrave photos, pet portraits and other detailed images into metal with a pronounced sense of depth.
By creating different depth levels in the metal, we produce a relief effect that gives your image more structure, character and detail.
This technique is particularly suitable for personalising larger pendants, key rings, medals, medallions and other metal objects.

What is a deep relief engraving?
In a classic laser engraving, an image is usually rendered with lines or engraved areas.
With a deep relief engraving, we go a step further. We work with different depth levels to create more relief and structure in the image.
This allows fine details, such as the texture of an animal's coat, the features of a face or small nuances in a design, to really stand out.
The result is a personal engraving with a remarkable depth effect.
From photo to relief engraving with the help of AI
To prepare our deep relief engravings, we use artificial intelligence (AI). You can, for example, supply a photo of your dog, pet or another personal image.
Step 1 – You send us your photo
You supply a clear photo or image in which the main details are clearly visible. The sharper and clearer the original photo, the better we can prepare the design.
Step 2 – We prepare your image for approval
We convert your photo into an adapted black-and-white image with different shades of grey. These shades of grey are used to prepare the desired depth effect of the design. This produces an image that can be made suitable for our relief engraving technique.
Step 3 – We engrave the design in metal
Based on the prepared design, we engrave it into the metal. The different depth levels create a remarkable relief effect in which fine details can remain visible too.
